Oh my yes,

Unlike most people I dislike the summer and love the winter. I am happier in the winter for the most part, I love the dark and going for walks in the cold and being all snugly. I dislike the summer, the sun and it's heat gives me feelings like I am about to go into a panic attack, I get hayfever, sinuses and more colds in the summer then the winter, I also burn far to easliy. I find the summer lonely and spend a lot of it in the room on my own. This summer I was prepared for it as my counsellor and I planned what I would do if I was feel unwell, so I can say if has been one of the better ones. My anxiety increases as my body temperature rises and I feel so uncomfortable. It doesn't help hearing about what others have been getting up to enjoying their time off, doing stuff and going places where I spent a majority of my free time in my room.

Well the first step which you have gotten it knowing the change is coming, next making plans to tackle it. It sounds like you know what you are doing though and are on top of it some what. Hope you are feeling well at the moment.

Yes i have seasonal affective disorder. First thing i'm doing tommorrow is going into the pharmacist and getting my antidepressants. They cost a ton (and i have spent alot of money paying off debts recently), but i can't bear feeling the way i am. And they are my only hope atm.

Rain affects me the most - i actually like dark days as long as its not raining, but when it rains, i get so low, i avoid talking to people. As it rains alot in Galway, it is the only downside about this place.

As J said in a post above - i actually prefer winter- even the extreme temperature! Don't get me wrong, i like the sun, but we never get enough in Ireland, so i dont see the point in summer. Plus it makes me realise what a crap life i have, since i'm not out 'doing things' like other normal 23 y/os. So it makes me sink into deeper depression. I dont go on proper holidays, i dont like wearing clothes that reveal my skin (i've gotta huge complex about my skin, so i usually wear cardigans to work - during the summer!!)

Winter is nice for me - i like being all cosy, and not having the pressure of being so social, wheras summer everyone is out having fun, and i just plod along.

Edit: Apologies for the ranting post, this is the only forum i'm on now, and i badly need to vent!!

what do "normal 23 yr olds" do , lol??? holidays are nt soo great and personally i dont care much for women who show more skin than clothes, haha. try not to be soo hard on yourself. instead of focusing on the negatives try focusing on the positives from now on Wink , it obviously dont help you much when u tink like that so why bother staying that way ?? it dont make much sense. u gotta accept and start to love who u are and not focus on other ppl and comparing yourself to them, i can bet they aint doing the same !!

(thats my rant over, haha. sry !! )

anywaysssss back to seasonal change i guess. the funny thing is, i used to love autumn and winter, a lot more than summer but since last yr i started to hate it. atm..... whatever negative thing i feel or think im just gonna do the opposite. as in...... if i wanna stay in the house and not go out, im gonna get my ass up and go outside, lol. rather fight these thoughts/feelings than accept them and sink into em more !!

I'm not entirely sure what they do, but it definitely doesnt involve being too anxious to socialise Razz I dunno i've just always assumed i am abnormal, so most people my age are more care-free and dont worry about stupid stuff like i do.

My favourite months are November and December, especially december as we get alot of time off work, and i like going out at Christmas.

Well thankfully summer is coming to an end, and bring on the winter! Minus 10 degrees for the winter, here we come Razz

haha, thank you Smile .

christine, ud be surprised with how many ppl suffer from anxiety, even at our age. most of them are prob too embarrassed to admit it so they tend to live with it silently and i can assure you that you are most defo not missing out on anything. you may think you are but wheres the facts in what your assuming ?? btw...... your not abnormal, hahaha. stop being self critical woman and start enjoying who u are smoke

one thing i do love about winter tho is the cold weather, the last couple of years were after gettin really cold snaps. i just love snow, haha.

I'm like Janette in a way. I prefer rainy days to sunny days.
The reason? Girls don't go around wearing next to nothing in the rain so I've less to compare myself to. I actually have a phobia of girls in short skirts or showing their legs in any way - I'm too damn jealous! Also theres less likely to be crowds on rainy days!!!!
