Meetup summer 2011

Hey lads and lassies,

Think its time for another meetup,

Myself and Jimmy are organising a SA meetup for this July/ August. We already have a few people who are interested already, but the more the merrier.

Jimmy has a free gaff at the time, which is in Donegal. But some people on SAS have said that Dublin is handier for them. And of course Galway is another option. I live in Galway, in city centre, so you're all welcome to stay there (i'll just kick my housemate out )

Anyways Donegal, Galway and Dublin are three possible locations for it.

If interested, let me know, and let me know what location suits you best. It would be great if ye could come, the last two were good, and everyone was very nice.

No worries if you have other plans around that time, i understand there'll be alot of people jetting off on their holliers at that time!

Ya that'd be great man! I'm thinking Dublin will probably be the choice again, most people seem to live around there and it's handier.

I don't mind, i will probably get the bus down (don't want my new car getting nicked in Dublin!! Joking) as i will have a few drinks to calm the nerves.

SAS is a social anxiety support forum, its a fairly big forum, and alot of Irish have joined up recently. I go on it alot, made a good few mates on it.

So would you be more interested if it was in Dublin then?

No i havent heard from anyone else from here, only from SAS.

Sure i'll let you know the venue for definite, more than likely dublin, most people are based in the east, so its handier for them. I don't mind, i can get a bus down, and back up, think the buses for Galway don't finish until 2am, so that's fine with me

Anyone else here let me know, its not for another 6/7 weeks anyway, so plenty of time to think about it, if interested.

good to hear!! well things haven't changed if anything the sa got worse

sry to hear that. have u tried to get help for it ??? if u wanna beat it m8 u can ! its not impossible. its a learned behaviour which u can unlearn by using the right techniques. heres a link for ya, its cbt for social anxiety. when i done the anxiety treament course it was based on this exact work and it really is effective. your in your 20s atm, what wood be the point in lettin this control your life?? you gotta learn to change ur mindset and personal views on social situations !! anyways........ heres that link for ya , if u need any help , id be more than happy to help in any way possible !! shy no longer! social anxiety treament.

Its looking like Dublin at the moment, would've prefered Galway, but its no biggie really. We culchies have a great sense of direction haha!

That's great David! Sure you have plenty of time to think about it, no pressure at all. But don't worry if you're nervous at the thought of a meetup, i'm always nervous before a meetup, but after the initial 10 minutes, its fine.

Galway or Dublin would be the easier for me, as I am going to Donegal later in the summer but really it shouldn't matter! I'm feeling excited about this might even be a bit more relaxed this time!

for those of you who don't know we are thinking saturday 23rd or the week after in dublin for the meet up. does either dates work for you?

Hey - Sorry for delay in posting. As David has already said, we are planning to have it on the 23rd of July.

And ya there seems to be quite a bit of interest in this meetup, I know there are 4 definites and about 6 maybes. And i texted Shelley (from this site), said she would love to go, so she'll try to make it if she isnt working.

We will probably plan to meet up around 12noon or 1pm in dub city centre. Location yet to be announced.
Also theres a zombie charity walk on that day at 1pm starting at St stephens Green, so it will be fun to watch

Oh and i'll PM people my mob number next week for the meetup, just incase you need it!
