Great to meet ya Johnny, Jes this site is badly needed anything i can do to help just shout ! Noel is my name by the way!
Where to start ha! i seem well bout 10 years ago i broke down and finally asked for help. That was the biggest step so far by miles, at the time the good oul mammy came to the rescue ha all joking aside if it was not for her help dono where i would be. So big up to the mammys out their and so the journey began with Gp's 3 of them Ha blood tests because they tought it was an over active thoride (sorry for the spelling) ,then a alergy test to rule out a reaction to gluten, no joy so they sent me home with happy pills to try sort it they dident work, changed doc's after one day he said "what do you want me to do for you like" Not impressed paying 40 euro for that! so went to a shrink she was nice, plesent but when i was not ready to open up it was pointless, Then to a occupational therapy that did ent go so well an was to expensive to keep up anyway, sorry if this is dragging on a bit ,changed my Gp again this time sucess!! turns out one of his friends has SA so he knew what he was talking bout not just the usuall "sure just get out their and be social!!!" Just in time two as i became very depresses at that time i was loosing hope and ended up in St.bridgets , i had two options, Say in their and they can watch me full time or go out and really push it to get better ,so i went home. i had to call in with a new shrink weekly to keep them up dated, and attent cognitive behavioural therapy once a week also which was good but in the middle of busy town and it was hard to be honest i missed a few sessions, I did some reserch into ssri's and payed a visit to the Gp to try them out and first month was ruff but after that it was fine and in fairness they did help, The major proublem to me is i couldent pin point when i started feeling SA and it bothered me big time.. . After some thinking i decided to go to hypnotherapy to try to uncover something . . . mayb i dont know but i tryed everything else.
Oh my god. . .no offence to the lady i felt really bad for her cos she tryed so hard to put me under but nothing it was relaxing but thats it, i was really put off it then, What ever happened i decided to try some one else, im a great belever in the power of the mind so i knew the last sesson just did not gel if u know what i mean.
I cant decribe what happened next really it was that good, i met a lady thats god given talent is hypnotherapy, i will put it this was i remembered people from years and years ago i totally forgot about, i visited places i had been, she is that good. . .And as i told her before she started im gona let you do your job but im not gona make it easy ha .To cut it short she filled in alot of gaps that made so much sence, and gave me a better understanding of where the SA came from. After that alot of the guilt was gone ,guilt of being such a burden ,for being different.
After that i was able to make the desision to go to the group sessions in the matter hospital ran by social anxiety ireland, it was a big deal in its self at the start now thats its over i wish it went on longer ha , it was so worth it! i doing light therapy also.
Now im doing pretty good, im happy, doing my own thing, living life, im not where i want to be just yet but i am getting their and im happy with that.
Jes thats a long post sorry ! hope it inspires someone!
